Is healthcare the right path for me?
Is nursing the right path for me?
Is geriatrics the right path for me?

Registered nursing assistants at Masonic Village provide hands-on, person-centered care for residents, helping them with daily tasks. They aid other nursing staff and share updates on residents’ well-being with medical providers. One of most rewarding parts is growing to know residents and their families.

Working as a nursing assistant or nurse aide is a fulfilling and enriching career, which can start you on a path to a more advanced nursing career. This foundational education helps students determine if this is the right path for them and provides the necessary education to achieve their goals.

The program is three weeks long and meets from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including classroom and clinical time. The maximum class size is 10 students, which allows opportunities for one-on-one guided instruction and sufficient time to practice skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be a registered nursing assistant upon completing the program?

No. Attending and completing our Pennsylvania Department of Education approved program enables you to take the two state credentialing exams. The first is an online written exam and the second is a hands-on practical exam where you demonstrate five out of the 23 different state testable skills. Masonic Village also covers the cost of these exams.

Will I be hired at Masonic Village upon completion of the course?

Yes. You will be offered full- or part-time employment based on current openings, contingent upon successful completion of the program and passing the state credentialing exams.

Do I need to stay at Masonic Village for a certain period of time after completing training or pay anything back?

A trainee is not committed to employment at Masonic Village for any period of time. However, it is in our organization’s interest to accept candidates into the program who intend to remain employed with the organization after graduating the course.

Will I be paid during my training?

During the training program, the pay rate is $16/hour. The pay rate will increase to $18/hour upon completing the state credentialing exams.

What is the class structure or format?

The first week consists of theory and learning the key principles required for the written exam upon completion of our program. There is nightly homework. Then the focus is on the 23 different testable skills. You will learn and demonstrate these skills with a partner or mannequin. There is also clinical time on one of Masonic Village’s skilled nursing neighborhoods, where you put into practice the knowledge and skills you’ve acquired.

How long will it take to get accepted into the program?

The interview and onboarding process averages about a month leading up to the class. However, we typically experience a high volume of applicants in our training program, and at times we may accept students into a class months in advance. Applying to the program does not necessarily guarantee an interview.

How do I apply for Masonic Village’s training program?

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and preferably a high school graduate, but this is not essential.

Masonic Village is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
